The Arkansas Razorbacks Defeat the LSU Tigers in Triple Overtime
How about those HOGS??? My second favorite team in college football ended their regular season with a bang yesterday evening with a 50-48 victory over Louisiana State University in triple overtime. The season has been a bit challenging for the Razorbacks. Some think they have underachieved, and that their performance problems have been due to Houston Nutt, the head coach. Haters and nay-sayers around the state have been calling for Nutt’s head this year, but I’m guessing there’s very little of that kind of talk happening today.
I was dreading this game considering the vast majority of my family lives in Louisiana, and they were talking a lot of trash while I was down for my grandmother’s birthday. Needless to say, I haven’t heard one word from them today. I won’t let them get away with it though. Several will get a call before this day is over.
LSU was the #1 team in the country before last night. The sad part is that many people probably aren’t surprised that Arkansas beat them. The 2007 college season has been death for teams in the Top 10. I’ve never seen as many upsets as I’ve witnessed this year. Like many other upsets this season, LSU was beaten by an unranked team – the Arkansas Razorbacks. They can now join the “who’s your daddy? club” which already has Michigan, Oregon, Oklahoma, Boston College, USC, and Ohio State as members.
Notre Dame plays Stanford today, but I’m not that interested in the game. I guess it would be nice for the Irish to finish the season with a two game winning streak, but it’s really all about pride and nothing more at this point. I will definitely be watching the Kansas vs Missouri game this evening. My parents and brother are in Missouri, and even though they’re not huge college football fans, I think they’ve finally sat up and taken notice of their hometown team. Missouri has a legitimate chance to beat Kansas and play for the Big 12 Championship against Oklahoma. If they win that game, then they should be in the national title game. Who will they play? Who the heck knows? Far be it from me to try to predict anything during this wacky college football season.
Go Hogs!
